Morning, to all! I got a call from a close friend this a.m. telling me she thought she might be in labor. So it's a perfect day to address such an important issue. Most of the time the focus is on 'what can I do to manage or even get rid of the pain of labor'. What a wonderful change of perspective - what intesifies it?
According to the Institute of Somatic Therapies, the key intesifiers are 1) fatigue, 2) anemia, 3) negative self-talk, 4) overstimulation, 5) focusing on the pain 6) discouragement, 7) negativity from others.
Have any of these factors pushed you over the edge in labor? Tell me about it!

Anything Body, Mind or Birth
Hello, to all! Welcome to a wonderful space to talk about anything that has to do with holistic health, body/mind, energy, massage and birth. Hey, guys - you're welcome to join in the chat, too! I've been a CMT since 2002 and have been working with expectant moms & dads for the past 5 years. (Where did the time go? :0) My passion is my massage doula practice. There's something innately, instinctively phenominal when I work with families to achieve thier ideal birthing experience! It's like having a baby all over again...did I mention I have 3 teens? (That in itself is a journey.) I'd love to extend my hands & hearts to women who want to birth at home. Any homebirthers out there? What was your experience like? Would you recommend it to others? Why? Why not?
